Account Deletion Policy

Effective July 2026

This policy explains what happens when you delete your Unveeyl account: what is erased, what we are required to keep, what it means for an active seller subscription, and whether the account can be recovered. It forms part of our Terms of Service and should be read with our Privacy Policy. In short: deletion is permanent, it cannot be undone, and it is not a refund.

1. How To Delete Your Account

You can delete your account yourself from Settings on the Unveeyl web app, under "Delete account". The Android app links to the same screen; deletion runs on the web because it requires you to re-enter your password, which the app does not collect.

If you signed up with an email and password, you must re-enter that password to confirm. A signed-in session alone is not enough to destroy an account, so an unattended or stolen session cannot delete it. If you signed in with Google, there is no password to check and confirmation is by the signed-in session.

If you cannot access your account to delete it, contact theloyegroup@gmail.com from the email address on the account and we will verify your identity before acting.

2. When Deletion Is Refused

You cannot delete your account while any order is still in progress, as a buyer or as a seller. Closing an account mid-escrow would strand money in the middle of a transaction and leave the other party with nobody to chase. Complete or cancel those orders first; the error message tells you how many are outstanding.

You cannot delete your account while an active seller subscription cannot be stopped at our payment partner. This is described in section 5 and exists to protect you, not us: an account that no longer exists cannot cancel its own card payments.

Internal Unveeyl administrator accounts cannot be self-deleted. They are closed by another administrator, so that no single person can remove their own audit trail.

3. What Is Erased

When deletion completes we immediately erase the personal information attached to your account: your first, middle and last name, date of birth, phone number, residential address, city, state and country, your saved delivery addresses, your profile photo, banner image and bio, and, for organisation accounts, the organisation name, registration number, representative name and contact email.

Your credentials and sessions are destroyed - your password, any password-reset tokens, and all refresh tokens - so the account cannot be signed back into by you or by anyone else.

Your email address and username are replaced with non-identifying internal placeholders and your display name becomes "Deleted account". Your username is released at that point and may be registered by someone else.

Your follow relationships are removed in both directions, so your account no longer appears in anyone's followers or following list, and the follower counts of accounts you followed are adjusted accordingly.

4. What We Keep, And Why

We do not erase the transaction record. Orders, escrow records, payouts, platform charges and dispute outcomes are retained, because they are another person's records as much as yours: a buyer's purchase history, a seller's sales history and the financial and tax record all reference them. Removing them would corrupt the counterparty's account and our statutory books.

These retained records are linked to a stripped account with no name, email, phone number or address attached to it - the transaction survives, the identity behind it does not.

Your conversations are not deleted immediately. They remain readable for 10 days after your account is closed and are then permanently purged. This window exists so that the other participant does not lose their own history the moment you leave, and so that a chat referenced in an open dispute is still available while that dispute is resolved.

Content you posted publicly - listings, posts, comments, reviews and stories - is governed by the Terms of Service rather than by this policy. Where such content remains visible it is shown against a deleted account rather than against your name.

We may also retain limited information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, or establish or defend a legal claim.

5. Seller Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are recurring card payments taken by our payment partner, Paystack. They continue automatically until they are cancelled at Paystack - deleting an account is not, by itself, an instruction to your bank.

For that reason we cancel your recurring subscription payment as part of deleting your account, before the account is closed. If we cannot confirm that the recurring payment has been stopped, we will refuse the deletion and tell you so, rather than close an account and leave your card being charged with no way for you to stop it. In that case, cancel your subscription first from your subscription settings, then delete the account, or contact theloyegroup@gmail.com.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You are not charged again.

Deleting your account part-way through a paid period is not a refund request. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where a refund is required by law, and unused days in the current period are not refunded or credited. If you want the benefit of a period you have paid for, cancel the subscription and delete the account at the end of it rather than at the start.

A free trial ends with the account, and trials are one per account for its lifetime. Because the username and email are released on deletion, a new account created afterwards is a new account for every purpose - it does not inherit a trial, a subscription, a tier, a verification status, a rating or a follower.

If you are a Business-tier seller, deleting your account also ends access for the team members you invited, as their access derives from your subscription.

6. Deletion Is Permanent

Deletion cannot be undone. There is no recovery window, no restore option and no support process that can reinstate a deleted account, because the personal data attached to it is overwritten rather than hidden - after deletion there is nothing left to restore it from.

Signing up again with the same email address creates a new, empty account. It does not recover your listings, orders, messages, followers, reviews, seller verification or subscription.

If you only want to stop using Unveeyl for a while, do not delete the account - simply sign out. If you are trying to stop a subscription charge, cancel the subscription instead; that does not require deleting the account.

7. Timing & Contact

Erasure of your account data happens at the time you confirm deletion, not on a later schedule. Conversations follow the 10-day window described in section 4. Backups taken before deletion are cycled out in the ordinary course and are not used to repopulate a deleted account.

This policy may be updated from time to time; the effective date below indicates when this version took effect.

Questions about this policy, or about a deletion request, can be sent to theloyegroup@gmail.com, or to general support at theloyegroup@gmail.com.
